A Coach and a Dad Tired of Bad Fundraisers
I've spent over 30 years in coaching — both as a collegiate baseball and softball coach and as a mental skills coach. I've also written many books and articles and hold a master's degree in Motor Learning and Sport Psychology from the University of Virginia, where I also coached baseball. Most importantly, I'm a husband and a father of five kids — which means I've sat through more fundraiser kickoffs than I can count.
I started working in solar because for many people, the numbers really make sense. But I didn't like the hard sales pitch that my bosses wanted me to do. Fundraiser FAQ
We create a unique link for your group — something like comparesolarprices.net/?ref=lakeside-soccer. When a homeowner clicks your link and fills out the quote form on our homepage, our system automatically credits that referral to your group. Your families don't need to mention your group's name or enter a code — the link handles everything behind the scenes.
A qualified quote request meets all of the following conditions:
1. Single-family homeowner. The person submitting must own a single-family home. Renters, condo owners, and multi-unit properties are not eligible.
2. Utility bill submitted. They must include their utility bill when filling out our quote form. We ask for this because it allows us to send a real, accurate quote — not a generic estimate. The form makes this easy to do at the time of submission.
3. Valid, working phone number. They must provide a real phone number. We reserve the right to disqualify submissions with clearly fake or non-working numbers.
4. Email reply confirming receipt. We send every homeowner their quote within 48 hours of form submission. To trigger the $25 payment to your group, the homeowner simply needs to reply to that email confirming they received it. They do not have to speak with anyone, move forward with solar, or make any commitments — just reply to one email.
5. No existing solar. Homeowners who already have solar installed are not eligible.
6. One per address. Each home address is eligible once, regardless of which group's link was used.
The bar for your supporters is genuinely low: fill out a 2-minute form, look for a quote email within 48 hours, and reply "I got it." That's all it takes to earn your group $25.
We reach out to you directly when earnings come in — we don't wait for you to ask. Payment is made by your preferred method (Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or check). For quote earnings ($25 each), we typically batch those and pay monthly. For installation earnings ($200 each), we pay within a few days of the installation being completed.
Solar installations don't happen overnight — there's a process between a homeowner signing their contract and the panels actually going live. After signing, permits must be submitted to the city, approved, and then the installation is scheduled. Following installation, the utility company has to inspect and authorize the system before it can turn on. This process typically takes 6–12 weeks from contract signing. So while the $25 quote payment comes quickly, the $200 installation payment follows the completion of that process. We'll keep you updated as referred homeowners move through the pipeline so your group always knows what's expected and when.
Any school-affiliated or youth-focused organization in Southern California is welcome — sports teams, band boosters, academic clubs, theater groups, parent-teacher organizations, scout troops, you name it. If your group has families connected to it and you're raising money for something worthwhile, we want to help.
No cap, no limit. If your group is active and spreads the link widely, every qualifying referral earns the same rewards. Some groups share their link year after year as new families join.
The most effective approach is a short personal message in your team group chat or email list — something like "Hey team, we're doing a solar fundraiser this season. If you own your home, click this link and fill out a free quote form. It takes 2 minutes and earns the team $25 — and you might actually save money on your electric bill." Parents respond much better to that than to a generic announcement. We're happy to help you craft a message if you'd like.
